FREE BIKES!

Well, not what you may be thinking. It was recently announced (4/13) that Frontier Airlines (Colorado's HOME airline... and the talking tails :) would be offering bikes to be checked as a piece of luggage and would no longer be subjected to the oversize penalty. This is HUGE. In 2009 I flew 18 single legs with my bike. That year I was normally flying Southwest or Frontier (huge thanks to Matt) because of the $50 fee and also they flew to most all the destinations I was headed to (do NOT get me started on the fools that think 225 one way for a bike is normal). Enter the new Frontier announcement. Cyclists and triathletes and any bike case toting athlete now have a big friend in the skies (not that we didn't already love Jack, Larry and Griz). An additional bonus of sorts... at the economy level it is 20 for the first checked bag and more for the second but if you upgrade to Classic you'll get two free bags. And Classic usually is about $25 more per round trip!

Can't wait to race and travel again just so that when I go to the airport I can experience traveling with a bike without feeling like I'm being punished for being a cyclist or that I won't have to lie to them about "what's in the case"!
