Got Bowl?

I've been thinking of writing some little stories about a few of the MVA Racing athletes that had the chance to race Kona this year but seeing this photo from Steve really jump started that process. After only a few months of working together I put it out there that I thought that he could get on the podium in Kona in 2012. Fast forward to the day after Coure d'Alene this year and I get an email: "How about a wooden bowl." Referring to the umeke bowls that are given out for those in the top 5 in their respective age groups at Kona. My response: all my chips are in. He put it out there, he busted his ass, he got after it. This photo just sums up so much of what I've seen him work towards. But it's not just this goal and the successful accomplishment of it that has me inspired but rather I've been inspired to be a better coach when any of my athletes attack a goal in a similar way to Steve's attack on Kona. To see them set goals, then get after them and in the end conquer it inspires me to be a better coach. It drives me to want more out of myself as an instructor and guide. To keep setting the bar higher and to keep getting after it.

Nice work amigo.
